A piston in your living room? It makes more sense than you think…

At first, it really does sound like a bad idea. A piston belongs in an engine. An oily, hidden component that does its job under the hood, out of sight. But once you clean it, restore it, and give it a new life, something changes, and
There’s a thin line between a “garage” and a “home.” Most car parts, or objects made from them, never cross it. They stay raw, unfinished, slightly aggressive. And that’s exactly where the difference lies. A well-crafted piece, like a piston lamp, doesn’t try to look industrial. It simply is. Just in a more refined, thoughtful form.
And no, this is not about turning your home into a man cave...
In fact, quite the opposite. These objects are not loud. They don’t dominate the space. They’re simply there, subtle, yet with a strong presence. A refined way to bring your passion for cars into your home without having to explain it.

Let’s be honest for a moment:
Have you ever felt, as a man, that you’ve slightly adapted to your own home? That everything looks good, everything is in its place… but somehow it lacks something that truly speaks to you?
This is exactly where these objects start to matter.
Not because they are “decorations,” but because they mean something. Something familiar. Something that is yours.
And I’m not just saying this, I’ve seen it work in real life. In our own home, for example, we have two smaller lamps on the bedside tables. I made them from old AC compressors at the very beginning. They weren’t meant to stay there permanently, they were just placed there temporarily because we didn’t have any other lamps at the time, and it made sense. But they stayed…

Since then, we’ve been calling them Piston Giraffes. (The shape just makes it obvious.) And at this point, my partner wouldn’t even let me remove them from there.
They became part of the room. Then part of our home.
This is the idea behind every Steelpire piece. Not to dominate the space. But to quietly find its place in it.
